Congratulations to World Champ, Noah!
Congratulations to our team co-captain, Noah Ren, who was a FIRST Dean’s List Winner at the World Championship in Houston! Dean’s List Winners are “student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. These students have also achieved personal technical expertise and accomplishment.”
We are so proud to have Noah’s dedication and leadership recognized by the FIRST community. It is a tremendous honor to receive this award on Einstein Field at the World Championship!
Regional Judges Award
At the Seven Rivers Regional in LaCrosse, BEAST competed against 54 other teams. After 90 Qualification Matches, BEAST ranked #14 and was invited to join an alliance to compete in the playoffs with Team 5903 – ThorBots from Westby, WI, and Team 6223 – Arsenal of Engineering from Menomonee Falls, WI.
Although we didn’t win the Regional, BEAST was honored to receive the Seven Rivers Regional Judges’ Award, which recognizes a team’s unique efforts, performance, or dynamic.
Season Wrap-Up
This season, we were excited to have our largest team ever! After years of laying a foundation for Robotics and Automation education in the school district, we were thrilled to move into our new Elmbrook Robotics Lab and host a ribbon-cutting and Open House. We also assembled and installed our new AndyMark field, which will allow us to experiment with prototypes, test software, hold drive practice, and invite other FRC teams to practice. Since we are “More than robots,” we launched a mental health awareness initiative to share mental health and well-being resources with the public. We supported FLL, FTC, and FRC events with volunteers. We spread our love of FIRST, STEM, and robotics by demonstrating our robot at Elmbrook events, such as Freshman Information Night, an elementary school science fair, and High Interest Day. We also held robot demos at Maker Faire Milwaukee, EEF’s Explore STEAM event, and EEF’s Ladies Night. We raised funds and awareness for suicide prevention at AFSP’s Out of the Darkness walk. We shed light on the need for STEM education and funding in our schools at the FIRST Wisconsin State Advocacy Day at the Capitol in Madison. Mentors attended the STEM Forward dinner to support a strong, STEM-ready workforce in southeastern Wisconsin. All of this while having fun and building a cool, competitive robot! But we aren’t finished yet! The team will stay busy this summer by hosting a STEM Camp for 3rd-5th graders, participating in Brookfield’s Independence Day Parade, and competing at the Mukwonago Robotics Offseason Competition.
Mikey’s Minute
Mikey’s Minute is produced by 2023 Brookfield East graduate Mikey Schlifske. He creates short videos that celebrate amazing things happening in our schools. We were so excited to be included in one of Mikey’s interviews. We showed off our new space and our love of robots! Check out Mikey’s Minute here.
Thank You!
A sincere thank you from the entire team to all of the sponsors, parents, teachers, and mentors who supported BEAST this season!
